LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORT JETWAY BOULEVARD
STATUS: Complete
CLIENT: Los Angeles World Airport
Los Angeles World Airport Jetway Boulevard consists of design and construction of a new roadway which will connect travelers to future Automated People Mover (APM) and Consolidated Rent-A-Car (CONRAC) facilities.
On this project YKD led the landscape conceptual design and prepared construction documents to submit to Bureau of Street Services (BSS) for B permit, and collaborated closely with civil engineers for low-impact-development (LID) planting design, and lighting engineers for tree clearance.
Irrigation design implemented innovative design strategies of using both potable water and reclaimed water, in which reclaimed water will be used to irrigate planting for most of the time, and potable water will be used occasionally to flush out irrigation pipes and valves to maximize recycling of grey water, and reduce potable water usage.
Landscape design is delivered with consideration of viewers will be seeing the landscape while traveling inside vehicles with peripheral vision, therefore street trees with showy flowers are planted consistently throughout the entire street to provide continuous visual interest.
