SAN PEDRO, CA
TOWN SQUARE AND PORTS O' CALL PROMENADE
STATUS: Conceptual Design Completed
CLIENT: Port of Los Angeles
The opening of Downtown Harbor in 2014 created a new home base for major festivals along the waterfront, and the city wholeheartedly embraced the gesture of reconnecting with the harbor at a historically significant spot. The conceptual design proposes to extend and connect the waterfront to eliminate the gap between downtown activities and the Ports O'Call.
The Town Square is envisioned as a gathering area with passive programs intimately related to Downtown Harbor, the Maritime Museum, and even the City Hall building. The Ports O'Call Promenade, approximately 30 feet wide with public access to 3,600 feet along water's edge, is hoped to be a unifying element to the entire waterfront.
