DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES TO CERRITOS, CA

WEST SANTA ANA BRANCH TRANSIT CORRIDOR

STATUS: In Progress

CLIENT: Los Angeles County Metropolitan                      Transportation Authority

The West Santa Ana Branch (WSAB) Transit Corridor is a proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) line that would extend from four possible northern termini in southeast Los Angeles County to a southern terminus in the City of Artesia. The Project includes the construction of 16 station options including three station types: underground, at-grade, and aerial. In addition to the stations, the project includes up to five adjacent parking facilities, support facilities, and two Maintenance and Storage Facility site options.

YKD prepared a draft landscape study that provides the requisite information to design the landscape for the various station types and accompanying facilities. The e design document ensures all stations function successfully while providing a safe, visually pleasing and enjoyable user experience. In order to achieve this, station designs create an inviting open space, are easy to use and accessible by all, and ensure user safety. The landscape design for each station includes site furnishings, hardscape, planting, and landscape lighting, and public art. Planting design is unique to each station and emphasizes drought tolerant and California native plants to create a sustainable landscape.
